Overview

Ethiopia is currently experiencing an outbreak of Marburg Virus Disease, primarily affecting areas within the South Ethiopia Regional State. Human cases and associated fatalities have been confirmed following field investigations and laboratory testing. The Ministry of Health has publicly communicated the situation, and response efforts, including surveillance and risk messaging, are ongoing. The current confirmed deaths stand at eight, based on public communication from the Ministry of Health. At the time of reporting, no real-time public dashboard for continuous case tracking has been confirmed.
